  • How to remove the Yeabests.cc and TopYea Browser Hijacker

The Yeabests.cc browser hijacker, otherwise known as TopYea, is an infection from the Adware/ShortcutHijacker family of browser hijackers that is bundled with other free software that you download off of the Internet. When installed it will change shortcuts for your installed browsers so that they automatically open the web site Yeabests.cc. When the Yeabests.cc web page opens, it will show a search engine called TopYea. Unfortunately, the method they use to hijack the shortcuts makes it impossible to fix without specialized tools such as our Shortcut Cleaner.

When YeaBests is installed on a computer, victims can easily become frustrated as when the yeabests.cc link is removed from their browser shortcuts, they are mysteriously added back. This is because the Yeabests.cc or TopYea program installs itself as a WMI script that when activated automatically adds them back.
How did the Yeabests.cc and TopYea hijacker get on my computer?

This program is installed via downloaders found on video and file sharing sites. These sites will offer free videos or downloads, but in reality install the Yeabests.cc hijacker on your computer. Therefore, it is important that you pay attention to the license agreements and installation screens when installing anything off of the Internet. If an installation screen offers you Custom or Advanced installation options, it is a good idea to select these as they will typically disclose what other 3rd party software will also be installed. Furthermore, If the license agreement or installation screens state that they are going to install a toolbar or other unwanted adware, it is advised that you cancel the install and not use the free software.
Without a doubt, the Yeabests.cc and TopYea browser hijacker was created in a way that makes it difficult to clean up without specialized tools. In my opinion you should uninstall this program if you discover the symptoms listed above so that your computer and browsers can run properly.
