The 1-888-995-8019 Enter a Product Key Scam is a Trojan from the Rogue.Tech-Support-Scam family that displays a fake Windows activation screen when you login to Windows. This screen states that your product key is invalid and that Windows could not activate. The Trojan then prompts you to call 1-888-995-8019Â*in order to receive tech support. The reality is that there is nothing wrong with your license of Windows and it is properly activated. They are just showing you this screen to trick you into calling the numbers in order to sell you unneeded services.
Remove The 1-888-995-8019 Enter the Product Key Tech Support Scam
The 1-888-995-8019 Enter a Product Key Scam is a Trojan from the Rogue.Tech-Support-Scam family that displays a fake Windows activation screen when you login to Windows. This screen states that your product key is invalid and that Windows could not activate. The Trojan then prompts you to call 1-888-995-8019Â*in order to receive tech support. The reality is that there is nothing wrong with your license of Windows and it is properly activated. When you call 1-888-995-8019 number, you will be told that your product key is invalid and that you will need to purchase a new one. The Remote Tech Support agent will then ask you to give him remote access where he will enter your new key. They will not give you the key to enter yourself, because this key will work on all infected users.
Thankfully, we were able to retrieve the key to unlock this screen and remove the Trojan. Simply enter 951753 into the product key field and click on the Submit button to close the screen locker and display your desktop again. If the key does not work, it may be because you are infected with a different Tech Support Scam. In that case, you may want to use the removal steps below to remove it for free.

Your product key should be in an email from whoever sold or distributed Windows to you, or on the box for the Windows USB came in.

How did the Windows Activation Scam get on my computer?
It is important to note that this program is installed by other programs that did not adequately disclose that other software would be installed along with it. Therefore, it is important that you pay attention to the license agreements and installation screens when installing anything off of the Internet. If an installation screen offers you Custom or Advanced installation options, it is a good idea to select these as they will typically disclose what other 3rd party software will also be installed. Furthermore, If the license agreement or installation screens state that they are going to install a toolbar or other unwanted adware, it is advised that you cancel the install and not use the free software.
As you can see, this scam was created solely to trick you into spending money on unnecessary services or product keys. For no reason should you call this number, and if you have already purchased the key from them, I advise you to dispute the charges with your credit card company.
