WebSearcher is an adware program that injects advertisements into search engines and web sites that you are browsing. When using a search engine, WebSearcher will display advertisements at the top and the sides of the web pages's search results. WebSearcher will also display advertisements labeled Sponsored by Revcontent or Trending Articles that will overlay the content of the page. These Revcontent ads will display a series of stories that a person can click on and visit.
This adware is able to inject advertisements by installing a copy of the Fiddler proxy software as Sniffer.exe and configuring your web browsers to send all traffic through it. This then allows it to inject advertisements that look for search queries on certain pages so that they can inject advertisements. The search engines targeted by WebSearcher are Ask, Google, Bing, Yahoo, YouTube, Ebay, Amazon, Facebook,Wow, Aol, xfinity, duckduckgo, iconfinder, webcrawler, infospace, mywebsearch, info.com, conteko, dogpile, and alhea. If it is not a search query, then they will inject the Revcontent ads instead.
It is important to note that Revcontent is not the adware, but is rather being used by adware to show ads. It is possible that Revcontent does not even know the adware developer is doing this.
How did the WebSearcher Adware get on my computer?

It is important to note that the WebSearcher adware is bundled with and installed by free programs that did not adequately disclose that other software would be installed along with it. Therefore, it is important that you pay close attention to license agreements and installation screens when installing anything off of the Internet. If an installation screen offers youÂ*CustomÂ*orÂ*AdvancedÂ*installation options, it is a good idea to select these as they will typically disclose what other 3rd party software will also be installed. Furthermore, If the license agreement or installation screens state that they are going to install a toolbar or other unwanted adware, it is advised that you immediately cancel the install and not use the free software.
In my opinion, the WebSearcher adware was created for the sole reason of generating advertisement revenue for the developer and offers no benefit to the computer user. If you find the WebSearcher advertisements intrusive, you can use this guide to remove it and any other related programs for free.
